Biography
In addition to overseeing the university swine farm at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Morgan Wonderly provides students hands-on learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. She teaches courses in swine management, reproduction, and livestock evaluation, integrating real-world production challenges directly into the classroom. Her approach reflects Cal Poly’s “Learn by Doing” philosophy, preparing students with practical skills in animal care, production systems and decision-making.
Beyond the classroom, Morgan is a state trainer for the Pork Quality Assurance® Plus program in California, bridging the gap between academic instruction and practical, on-farm applications. She is actively involved in the swine industry through service on the board of the California Pork Producers Association and the National Swine Registry’s Youth Advisory board. She is a graduate of the Pork Leadership Institute (2022).
Nominating Committee Comments
Morgan Wonderly emphasized three themes during her interview: confident consumers, strong producers, and education. Morgan is relatable to a wide group of producers and can represent their interests. She has gained valuable experience and grown professionally during her first board term. She is driven by data, ROI, industry challenges and opportunities, along with building relationships with producers no matter the size or type of their operation.
The nominating committee questions where the next generation of pig owners and allied industry will come from, and noted it takes people like Morgan to figure that out. As an impressive educator and advocate, she articulates industry topics, specifically to younger generations of agriculturists, while understanding the thoughts and emotions of the millennial and Gen Z consumers that the Taste What Pork Can Do® consumer brand campaign reaches through digital media.
