Iowa

Biography
Todd Wiley, a producer from Walker, Iowa, with 32 years of experience, manages his 2,000-sow farrow-to-finish operation, Interstate Swine, LLC, marketing 52,000 pigs per year. He is the sole owner of a business called Pig Palace, LLC that builds swine facilities for Interstate Swine, LLC to lease.
Todd and his family harvest 465 acres of corn and 40 acres of pasture and hay ground for their small cattle operation. He and his wife also own minority shares in 4th Gen Hogs, LLC, a business owned by their four children that feeds 23,000 pigs annually.
Todd’s volunteer service is vast, helping to develop business, service and people management skills, and includes service on a local bank board (20 years), county and state pork association boards (including officer positions), National Pork Producers Council’s Nominating committee, the local school board (nine years), county supervisor (commissioner) (five years), and 4-H and FFA youth programs.
Nominating Committee Comments
Direct yet thoughtful in his beliefs, Todd Wiley has compassion and genuine care for the industry. He identified major issues quickly and works toward finding solutions while on the local school board and as the county supervisor (commissioner). He offers tangible examples, specifically when he stood up for what was right with a conflict of interest when he was volunteering for the school board.
Todd will handle disputes that occur when making important decisions. On a board, you need to know the importance of compromise and collaboration, since some moments will need your firm decision-making, while others require listening. Additionally, meetings are spread out and with limited time. Board members must address challenges so conversations don’t linger and time is wasted. Todd understands this balance.
Todd was on the Iowa Pork Producers Association Board of Directors many years ago, even encouraging a fellow Iowa producer to participate. He noted he didn’t volunteer at a national level earlier in life because of his kids, and that’s honorable because it demonstrates how he values his time.
