Kevin Rasmussen, Iowa

Biography

Kevin Rasmussen raised pigs for 45 years and farmed 1,100 acres of row crops for 41 years. After shifting several operational styles, he most recently managed an 1,100 head farrow-to-finish and now consults finishing for a management company. Rasmussen’s respected experience in the industry includes being the immediate past president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association; National Pork Producer’s Council PorkPac, which is a political action committee; and NPB’s International Market Development Sustainability Differentiation task force.

Rasmussen is an avid volunteer, committee member, or board member for numerous organizations like local co-ops, Farm Bureau and his church. He served for 15 years on a rural electric board, with four of those years as president. He was appointed to a National Rural Electric Cooperative Association strategic planning task force in a year-long effort to complete the 21st Century Report, which he presented to a congressional committee in Washington.

As a past president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association, Rasmussen recognizes the relationship and partnership between National Pork Board and the state pork associations. He has on-farm and change-management experiences throughout many industry shifts in his tenure. His state association has recognized him for his commitment to the We Care® Ethical Principles. Rasmussen can share knowledge, identify efficiencies, and explain the who, what, when, where, why and how for numerous production- and board-related situations.

Leadership, Communication, Attitude and Passion

His passion for this industry is second to none. His volunteerism with board leadership, notably Rural Electric, is evident. It is appreciated that he has the time and experience with the Iowa Pork Producers Association to seek continued volunteer opportunities with the industry that has afforded him a livelihood.
